If you are reading this and have already selected Ramapo College out of a list of other, more interesting schools, then you might be a bit disappointed. However, if you are attending community college or still in high school, there is still hope afterall.

Ramapo College can be the best of schools or worst of schools, depending on your social category. Anyone who wants a campus a step above high school should look elsewhere. The students here embrace their high school experience so much, they pack up a suitcase and rush home on weekends. Thus, RCNJ is a "suitcase college." Weekends are boring and any attempts at throwing parties are discouraged by judicial affairs. This is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a party school. Drinking policies are strict, and the people running the school would probably prefer if the campus was dry all together.

Attending college is supposed to be a time to meet new people from various cultures and countries. Not here. People tend to find comfort in dealing with those that are like themselves here. Self segregation is simply a fact of life at RCNJ. I am skeptical about the diversity claim that is made about this school. If you are a minority, beware. Chances are, you will find yourself dealing with the same few people, unless you go outside the box and try to meet others.

If any single guys are reading this, listen closely…there are no single girls here. They all have boyfriends who they plan on marrying back home, so don't even bother approaching them. What you heard is true. We have some of the best looking girls in the state. But do not expect to get with any of them. However, single ladies, Ramapo is the school for you. You will have your pick of desperate, single guys who will give you the world.

Ramapo College does have some very good instructors. I am a COMM major and the teachers are top notch. Yes, we get swamped with work, but if you are studying something you like, then it is at least tolerable. But for classes not related to one's major, the extra work can be a nuisance. And guess what? For the first two years Gen eds will comprise 80-90 percent of your schedule. So sharpen those number two pencils, folks.

I remember what was said in the video promoting the college,

Ramapo College is not for everyone.
To decide whether this is the place for you, ask friends and check sites like this to see what your peers have to say.

One great thing about RCNJ is the student exchange program. Just when you are super bored and t'ed off, you have the chance to attend a different school. Just remember to be wary of choosing a school that is like this, unless that is what you want.
