As a returning adult student, I knew that I wanted to go to a small, intense liberal arts college that focused on writing skills and required student self direction. I looked at many places that were all highly rated. Ironically, Marlboro was at the bottom of my list until I visited and realized what an incredibly dynamic and demanding school it was. My professors guided me through the research process and scrutinized all of my work through microscopic lenses. The tutorial system allowed me to progress intellectually at a very advanced pace. Marlboro gave me the intellectual foundation to be a professor at an exclusive eastern college. All of the skills learned at Marlboro have given me the confidence to work with students of high calibre. This school is not for most people. However, I have met brilliant young students who are sparked by the rigorous demands of the school. They go on to fantastic graduate/professional programs. For others, they quickly drop out as they can not maintain the focus required to succeed here. If you love reading and are very independent, you might do well at Marlboro. |
