I had the opportunity of having several wonderful mentors, who were a huge help when I applied to psychology doctoral programs (I got admitted to Miami of Ohio and Ohio U). I started out at the regional campus, and got to know someone really well who then helped me contact other faculty at the Kent Campus. I must admit, however, that this is not necessarily a typical experience. In general, the faculty in my department are very helpful and supportive, but you have to seek them out. However, I do not know of anywhere where a professor will just come up to you and say "how would you like to work on my project and write a journal article with me." You have to take the initiative. |
