Especially illustration. There have been two teachers in this department every year but only one has remained for all four years. One year the other person was an alumni who didn't know how to teach and didn't want to be there. The next year it was a senior citizen who hadn't taught in 25 years. You don't get to take any of the classes in your field until you're a junior practically. During your first two years you will recieve constant pressure from the faculty to switch to fine arts. There are constant subtle cuts on communication arts in most of your classes the first two years. The school has a Professional Practice class but the school has no connections so it's a farse. Their professional connections extend as far as its neighbors in Mount Adams and small studios with less than 10 employess. The city is also a negative factor. Tension is very high and generally people are nervous. Personally I find the city to be very unfriendly. |
