I'd heard before about "Cougar pride" and that everyone is like family here, but I was unprepared for how truly close this campus is. I have a lot of friends at different schools, and they all have a small group of friends that they hang out with all the time. Here in Pullman there are only about three degrees of seperation between any two individuals. Simply go grab a keg from the distributor in Moscow, invite a few friends and tell them that it is an open invitation party, and Bam! you've got 50-60 people showing up on 3 hours notice (and noise violation warnings from the cops of course, but they are pretty friendly and simply don't want anyone driving loaded). The difficulty of the classwork is completely dependant upon your own personal choices. anyone can skate through a Com degree with a 4.0, but I reccomend taking a solid engineering course. I've had an average class size of 12 for the last three years, and averaged about three nights of sleep per week. Thank whatever deity you beleive in for coffee. Our engineering school is respected country-wide, and our vet-school is second to none. People complain about pullman being in the middle of nowhere… that's the point. No you can't walk two blocks and have 15 shopping malls to choose from. However, we have a lot of decent events (Thanks SEB) and some amazing local talent. Can't find anything to do? wander greek row or the college apartments. It doesn't matter what time of night it is, or what day of the week. There is always something going on and all you need to gain access is bellowing "Go Cougs!" at the top of your lungs. There are also a lot of great things to do outside of the town. My advice: if you don't have a car, make friends with someone who does. Immediately. Steptoe butte, The diving cliffs, the backroad, Boyer park… about 30 parks honestly, are all withing about 20 miles of town. Grab some friends, pick a site, and go camping. A warning: the rangers will laugh at ou for running around wearing nothing but whipped cream. |
