Statistical Analyzer:

College is all about what you make it. At Ship you definately have to seek out the challenges, and the good times. I've had no trouble finding some awesome people to befriend, and professors who are well learned and helpful. Students here tend to not be very academically oriented. I would prefer to work with a slightly more intellectually stimulated bunch. This is a fairly conservative area which is also a bit frustrating at times. The town is boring but if you are willing to seek out the surrounding area you will find lots of things to do . . . this is a gorgeous place to hike/bike/camp and plenty of bars and clubs exist if you know where to look. The art department is very tiny, but growing. If you want stimulated, involved faculty who care about you this is a great place. If you want state of the art facilities, excellent funding, and studio space go elsewhere. My experience here had been positive, but I am thinking of going to a grad school with a more academic oriented student body.
