My classes are amazing, chemistry is the highlight of the week but I can't stand the people. I find most of my classmates pretentious and aloof. They are closeminded to a fault and only see through one paradigm. They also are self-absorbed. While many students are academic sucesses, this is not derived from doing the work—rarely do students get really "pumped up" about their course of study outside of class. It seems that most of my peers will be holding a "day job" for the rest of their life, thanks to the $$$ that mommy and daddy forked over.I can't understand many student's motivation to get a degree they don't want because otherwise their parents will "cut them off". While it is sad, many students are of monetary privilage and don't seem to understand that some of their peers are literally pulling their own weight and paying their own way for the rest of their life. Classmates have asked me why I work overtime on a regular basis or never spend cash on frivilous goods. Obviously, these children live in The Real World not the real world. |
