BCC. It seemed like a good idea. It is a relativily nice campus, and is not too far from Seattle. But BCC has some problems. First there is the problem of simply getting in the classes you need! BCC is way crowded with students looking for a less expensive start to thier education. I have had trouble getting in some required prerequesite classes for my Interior Design major (I was on a waitlist) and this can really mess up your whole school plan. Another problem is that the Interior Design program at BCC is a technical/professional program and only offers a associate degree, which would take an average person 4 to 5 years to complete! I can't wait that long for an associate degree. But there are few options as far as interior design in washington state. In general the classes are okay, some feel like high school, others are completely annoying because of all the older people in them. These 'older people'(age 30 and up) are the ones who fill the open seats for the classes, making us fresh out of high school students have to wait for an opening. There is also a lot of "cut throat" competition among design and art students. This can be very tiring, as we all try to outdo each other. And social life? What social life? BCC is pretty much dead when it comes to that. Most people generally keep to themselves or hang out in thier little groups. People here are not the friendliest Iv'e encountered, and much of the school is dominated by asian foriegn exchange students, who make up I'd say 45% of the school. So It can be hard finding someone who speaks the same language. Overall, BCC is so-so, but its leaning towards the lame border line. If you want the true college life experience, BCC is not for you. Or if you want a realistic interior design program either.
