They weren't trying to sell the college to me, but rather they got to know me and what I wanted in a college. I am going into my senior year and I have had a great experience. I have good professors and have gained a lot of confidence from the responsibility and challenged UC has given me. Now, I know that every college has its negative points and UC is no exception. However, to make claims about "rape rates" and that there is nothing to do on or off campus is a lie. I feel secure on the campus, but I also know I have to use common sense too. Nothing to do on or off campus?! You have got to be kidding! There is so much to do, but a good time isn't going to come and get you out of your dorm room. Go to some events and meet people. Join a club. be proactive, don't sulk in your room feeling sorry for yourself because you are bored. There are great faculty, but there are also some that can be arrogant and condescending. The student body is a mix and for such a small school, the diversity is amazing. I have friends from all geographic, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. When I see people calling Utica "ghetto" and say it's all "black people" from NYC, it only makes me thankful that poster decided not to return to UC. I can only say that UC isn't for everyone and posting lies because you didn't like it is pathetic. I honestly think that up until college, everyone (parents, teachers, coaches, etc.) bent over backwards to help you and do everything for you and when you got to UC, UC made you do for yourself and you can't handle that. |
