just a quick rant - went in the early 90s - was clueless like most kids but worse off since my parents were the same - one parent an academic name in their field the other a major city & state political appointee on the west coast - in a nutshell believed the rubish that east coast schools/life was the best - if you are a traditional american that believes in western civ, founding fathers & are a practicing christian this school is the antithesis - went back for grad & had a different experience for other reasons - will elaborate another time re grad & undergrad but here's the undergrad deal in short - essentially this school is about as cultural marxist (frankfurt school) aka pc as you can get - every white/christian, athletic, alpha male with a brain was graded down while everybody else was grade inflated, few exceptions of course (had a friend who was jewish flunked by julian bond of all people!) - if the following profs are still there avoid at all costs: ira klein, terrence murphy, bob beisner, katherine macgraw, john nesbitt, john schutze, prof. gregg, ferdy wang - essentially don't expect orthodoxy in the history or international relations dept.s - gen ed was the same - the school is completely dominated by nutty revisionist leftists, marixists, subculturalists and pc police - on another sordid note the culture of the school is dominated by children from nouveau riche families of the northeast that dump their alternative family offspring on the rest of the population - the unfortunate rest of the population being from outside the northeast & mid-atlantic historically are attracted by the scam that the school is a player in DC - having spent my undergrad and grad and lived in the area for 13 yrs. this school is not connected at all - the majority ends up temping or the equivelant - outside the alumni works in the same way, in other words like jackals - worked for alumni in business, ngos, law & highest levels of civil serviced govt & they all screw each other - most universitys are like this these days anyways, relatives, friends et al having been around - just tell your kids to get their degrees & get out
