As with anywhere, there is both good and bad faculty and staff. With Pikeville, there are extremes, such as the religion teacher that helped me through a painful time with my mom dying, and on the other end, there is the dorm director that told me he

didn't care if I lived on the street

I was pleasantly surprised with my major—Dr. Debby Keen is no longer there, but she ran the CS department much like UK's department. It was challenging and proved to be useful in the real world. It could have been somewhat better if a more mainstream programming language was used, but hey… it was still useful. Of course, she's gone now.

Pikeville is a small town and the school is a religious college, and you get all the positives and negatives that come with that (no drinking, very few bars, small town life, quiet nights, etc).

Back when I went there, we had NO foreign instructors (wahoo!), and there were no communication problems resulting from that. I hardly ever heard of faculty doing research—they were there to teach, for the most part.
