Statistical Analyzer:

Salt Lake Community College is a 2 year school. They offer almost all courses both spring and fall and most during summer. The best thing about this school is the access to instructors. I have never been turned down by a teacher when I ask to speak with them. They are in their office waiting to answer questions 10 or more hours per week. This semester, for example, I have had long discussions with one of my Calculus teachers every day after class. He is more than willing to entertain questions, even to the point of staying after class for several hours. Every instructor I have had has known their subject very well. If you don't feel you are being challenged much in class, the instructors are usually happy to supplement your learning after class. The academic environment is unbeatable.

If you are into a social seen, this college is definately not for you. They don't have dorms, and only a handful of students participate in student activities. Some people might see this as a bad thing, but I have been more able to concentrate on my school work than in high school or at the University of Utah.

Other points to consider are: $1100 tuition, many locations, and books. Many Gen Ed classes don't make you buy books (or give you copies of their books for free.)

The facilities are pretty good, but they are nowhere near alarge University's. The library system does not contain very many books, and the school lacks things like an observatory, a supercomputer, or an electron microscope. (Legend has it that they have one, but it is broken.)

All in all, it boils down to this: very low price, very good education, little or no social scene.
