I've been here for a year since I came here as a transfer student, and let me tell you, this place has its good points and its really bad points. The academic programs and athletic programs here, for the most part, are top-notch. This college has the best Professional Golf Management program in the country. The small classes dont hurt either. Also if you succeed in making good friends, you will have the time of a lifetime here.

Now for the bad part. The rules here are freaking terrible. No alcohol allowed on campus. No visitors past 2 a.m. Starting this year on-campus residency for non-local students is mandatory for two years. And this college is led by administrators who seem to fear growth and change. Sad, isn't it? There are organizations that are built to fight for the students, but nobody seems to care to want to get invovled unless it's within their own area of interest. This is a very apathetic place. Not a lot of kids are entirely happy here.

In addition, this place seems like one big high school. It seems depressing at times, because if you dont play a sport or fit it with one particular group, you can sometimes feel left out. The PGM students stay with their own kind, the football players stay with their own kind, the PTM students stay with their own kind, the baseball players stay with their own kind, the soccer players stay with their own kind, the school choir stays with their own kind, the foriegn students stay with their own kind, the cheerleaders and softball players stay within their own kinds (not to mention they hate each other) and most of the blacks stay together. Did I mention that these aforementioned groups constitute about 90 percent of the student population? Regular students such as myself are few and far between.

You can find parties, but they occur off-campus. Half of them get broken up by the cops (especially in the College Lakes area). By that time, it's time to go to the bar. People do succeed in smuggling booze into the dorms though…

This college is about 65 percent male. Enough said. I don't think this is a coincedence either as a part of me feels that this is part of the conservative makeup of the school. And STD's are rampant.

The food is disgraceful.

65-70% of the population goes elsewhere on the weekends.

Despite what I just said, I'm enjoying myself here. I dread leaving here. If this is your choice to come here, don't let me scare you..I'm just giving a heads up. Make friends, stay focused, do something about the issues here, and try to have fun, and you will be OK.
