I attended Miami Law School and specialized in taxation. Both the courses and the faculty were very good. I had some great jobs with both the government and with major accounting firms. I am now president of my own company making a very nice living. Miami had not only a very good law school, but the facilities were fabulous. They had a great gym and swimming pool and a very fine library. Even the food in the cafeteria was pretty good, which is a marvel considering the usual quality of college food.Socially, the school was outstanding! I have rarely seen as many beautiful people anywhere. Going to sports events is a real treat, not to be missed. The energy at football games was unbelievable. There was also a great deal of diversity. It had a large latin population and many foreign students that added a lot of spice to the social scene. The town of Miami was also a great place for a student with lots of good restaurants and fun things to do. Of course, the great weather didn't hurt.Miami also has a very strong alumni base that helps with both job placement and in raising money for endowment. Many people don't realize that Miami has one of the fastest growing endowments in the nation. It is currently just shy of 1 billion dollars, which puts it in the top 60 best endowed schools in the nation. I should note that the endowment was only 472 million the year before. It, thus, doubled in one year! Thus, the university has a higher endowment than Syracuse, Tufts, Carnegie Mellon, Tulane and many other fine schools. Trust me: University of Miami is currently a great place and a real up and coming school. |
