The University of Miami is truley unique. Our school offers something that no other university can - an incredibly respectable school, located in the hottest growing city in the country. South Beach is where most college students go for spring break, but it is where we live. However, you are not forced to become part of the SoBe life style, since Coconut Grove offers the college feel that others prefer. In the end, you are able to take you're pick any night of the week. Also, we are lucky to go to a University where our football team is nationally recognized as one of the best. Having a school that is really good at something boosts enormous amounts of school spirit and is uplifting in an amazing way. The campus is breath taking. How many people walk to class in Febuary surrounded by palm trees, exotic birds, and the occasional crab walking next to you? However, the one negative thing I have discovered is that many people at UM tend to get sucked into the fabolous life that South Beach offers, where fakeness and beauty are the leading characteristics of you're classmates. It makes it very difficult to develop true friendships. It is very easy to find individuals that want to go out and have a good time, but to have someone with true depth to them, is difficult. They are all definitly intelligent - very very bright individuals, but more into "being seen" and "who they know" than an actual friendship. |
