For a quality undergraduate education, Cameron is a great school overall. For social life and extracurricular activities, Cameron sucks. The nicest thing about Cameron is the small class sizes and helpful professors. It is a teaching university, not a research university. Professors have time to help students and are always willing to do so. They seem to really care about students. Also, there are absolutely no TA's. In regards to academic rigor and challenge, it depends upon the department. Some departments have a reputation on campus for being brutal (e.g. Biology, Computer Science, History, Physics). Others are a bit more stress-free (CIS, Math, Psychology). Overall, I would say that the best programs are probably Education, Computer Science, and Biology. Whatever the program, the school does a pretty good job at emphasizing creativity. The only real complaints that I have about Cameron is the lack of a social life, a drab-looking campus, and very limited research opportunities. |
