I earned a BS in my field at a state University in 1978 with a GPA of 3.4 or something. Here I earned a 4.0 or 3.9 in every course. I was shocked at how much the school caters to High School behavior. Instructors are using my final projects to show best ex-student work, yet the skills I have learned barely meet minimum needed by the workplace. On the whole they are doing the best they can but can't seem to fill classes and are severly handicapped with a few incompetent tenured instructors. They have virtually no quality standards for creativity which is critical for my area of study. Instructors constantly over sell the value of their classes and the school in order to increase enrollment. Nearly 75% of all classes I took could be completed entirely through self study using textbooks readily available from Amazon. Save your tuition and spend it on the software and work at home. If you can't afford a computer I will admit their computer facilities are B+ or A-. Additional comment: some trade or vocational programs seem very popular and may be satisfactory - not my area. |
