The undergraduate process at Case is intense from the very start, and unfortunately, many students quickly become disillusioned. I've experienced many of the trials of the engineering curriculum - marathon homework events, laughably low exam scores, etc., as well as a sometimes disappointing social environment and I understand many of the complaints that Case students have. Case isn't for everyone. You have to be willing to work both at academics and finding things to do outside of class so you don't go absolutely out of your mind. There is a lot to do here, almost to the point that the school over-programs. Most students are just worn out from the workload and would rather not make the effort to attent/participate in many of the events. If you want to have fun here, you have to be willing to make it happen for yourself. I really love being at Case - I joined a fraternity, play nearly every intramural sport, and contribue to campus organizations - and I feel that my time and money is well spent here. If you come here expecting things to just happen for you, get over that expectation very quickly or you might be in for a miserable time. |
