There are a lot of pros and cons as to attending Bloomsburg University. They just about balance out.

I live in Philadelphia. I knew that coming to Bloomsburg was going to be a big change from living in the city. (How did I know? I took the tour. Any interested college student should tour the schools they are considering for this reason). I basically knew all about Bloomsburg's drinking-school reputation, and I also knew that it was a relative small town with not much to do on the weekends.

Even knowing these things, nothing could prepare me for the adjustment I had to make. I went from big city excitement to small town lackluster nights. Mind you, a lot of the kids here are from small towns anyway. Also, a lot of kids here drink. I don't drink. IF YOU DON'T DRINK, you're not going to be crazy about this school, at first. The only advice I can give, is to find things that interest you, and do them on the weekends. When you aren't doing these things—Do your work. That's why you're in school. It's not all about having things to do anyway.

Another thing is, if you are a minority, it's a bit of a culture shock. I'm Black, and honestly, I knew how bad the ratio of whites to minorities was, but nothing really prepared me for the shock of being the only Black person in most of my classes, and one of the few minorities in my major. It's all about mentality after a while, though. Your here to work hard, so that gets put in the back of your mind. Just don't be shocked when you get here and don't see a lot of people like you.
