I did my first year at the branch campus at Avery Point and then I transferred to the Storrs main campus. My suggestion is that if you can do all or most of your studying at the branch campus, you should as it will be better for your sanity and your wallet.

What's good about UCONN is what you're paying for: the education. I haven't met one professor I haven't liked so far or found any to be incredibly dull and incompotent. True, there are those who are a little more fast-paced than others where you might have to learn some of the material on your own, but overall I think someone serious and passionate about learning would find the academic aspect of UCONN to be of very good quality.

On the other hand, and as alluded to when I said to go to the branch campus as much as possible, become good friends with solitude because that will be your only best friend on this campus. Most of the people here I find to be incredibly snotty, stupid, disrespectful, or all three. Most of the people who are here come from parents who have moeny so they take anything seriously and will drive you insane if your idea of a dorm is a place of peace and quiet. It isn't. You will- if you are a serious and ardent learner- find yourself in the library more often than not.
