Binghamton University is the kind of place where you make your own destiny. Socially, it can be great, as long as you put yourself out there and get involved. People will not go out of there way to meet you, but are generally open if you make the effort. As long as you do some of the legwork, I can almost guarentee you will have a core group of great friends by the middle of the first semester here. The only people who dont make that many friends here are those that refuse to make the effort. Greek life is somewhat small, but I reccommend getting involved in it as I have found it very rewarding in my short time here, especially for those who are worried about fitting in. Not to many out of staters, but thats not much of a problem, as I came here knowing no one, being the only student from my STATE, and fit in just fine. Night life is good, as long as you either drink, or enjoy the great variety of stuff the University has to offer. The town of Binghamton isnt that nice, but the bars are always fun 7 days a week and are notoriously lenient on ID's. Academically, you get what you want out of the school, it offers great programs as long as you are interested in learning. Some people slide through without learning anything, but that doesnt mean the academics here dont have the potential to be superb. Basically, you get what you put in here at Binghamton.
