I am from the East Coast and wanted to get away for school and go to a challenging University. From everything I heard Creighton University seemed like a good place to do that. However, I was disappointed in many ways once I attended the University. First off, the diversity of the student body is minimal. Most of the people are Midwestern, white, Catholics from Nebraska, Iowa or Missouri. They are close-minded, clicky and somewhat dull. The academic programs were pretty good, but some of the professors seemed unapproachable. That kind of set me off a little bit. The campus isn't ugly, but it isn't a thing of beauty either. You also have to be careful, the ghetto is right next door and wandering too far off you will be in it before you know it. The weather sucks. Lots of cold, lots of snow, lots of thunderstorms. The social aspect is pretty low. Most students hang out in dorms or go to fraternity parties on the weekends and drink. The fraternities are a joke, they are basically guys paying dues to party. They lack housing and other ammenities typical of fraternities. Omaha isn't a very exciting city. You have the Old Market, the Qwest Center and that's about it. I left after a year and now attend a university more suited to my needs. |
