I really wish someone had told me that when they said it was the "Catholic University for Independent Thinkers" what they really meant was "The Super, Super Conservative School where everyone thinks the same". Forewarned is forearmed as they say, and so just be aware that the most visible groups on campus are the "Pro-Life" group (Campus Crusaders for Life) and the Young Republicans. Socially it ranges from people who pray the rosary everyday who wear long denim skirts, to people who go and party with the upperclassmen. The West Side of Campus holds the athletic people who party, while the East Side of Campus holds everyone else. Lots and lots of people drink, and because of the school's big party traditions throughout the year it's always easy to. They used to give you community service if caught, but now they'll just fine you. Oh, and if someone is not Catholic then there is a church that you need a car to get to - or just be aware that you'll need a member from that church to drive you there. Also, be prepared to be a silent minority - they'll still invite you though to go and pray outside of the abortion clinics with them. As far as the classes go, they're good. People find that the CORE hasn't been adequately explained to them once they get here, and so be sure to understand you will take a lot of classes in English, History, Philosophy and Theology. Science majors (especially pre-med) and business majors are the people who complain about this the most. The business program is coming into full stride, but if you're not planning to stay in the Dallas area or in Texas, I would look at other schools with business programs that actually rank nationally. It's a quiet campus, but it is not beautiful. There are nice people everywhere, and it really helps if you are a conservative Catholic. (Liberals are only found on the "commie" newspaper - oh and the Republicans may call you a "Liberal Hippie Douche".)
