I am a local and a single mom, so I don't understand everyone's problems with the social scene. When I did go out, I went to a local bar called Cadillac's and always had a great time! I talked both of my younger sisters into enrolling here as well. I don't think this is the best school to get a degree from, but if you aren't sure what you want to major in, then this is an excellent school to start at. I went to Murray State University for a semester and absolutely despised every moment of it, so I dropped out, got engaged and got pregnant. Right after my son was born, I enrolled at UTM and everyone from admissions and financial aid to the professors and students have been very helpful and friendly. I was unsure about my major, so I took a Career Exploration course, and my professor and my advisor teamed up on me and really made me consider going into engineering because of my test scores in my Career Exploration class. If it hadn't been for those two, I never would have found my calling. I feel like I have gotten an excellent education and wouldn't have gone to any other school. However, because Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering are not offered at UTM, I will be transferring soon.My younger sister went to Indiana State University and hated it as well. Now she is going to UTM and just completed the Career Exploration course. She now has a much better idea of what she wants to major in, and will probably have to transfer for her degree as well. Although I can't vouch for her opinion of the school, she seems to enjoy her classes.Like I said, UTM is a great school to start off at, but it doesn't offer every degree, so you may have to transfer later on down the road, but go ahead and get your gen. ed. requirements out of the way here. |
