Maybe dorm just for the summer before school starts so that you get to know some people, but DEFINITELY DEFINITELY seek off-campus housing. I dormed for one year… horrible, horrible experience. I did make lots of great friends there (maybe cuz we shared the agony of living in a sh*thole together), but I felt so much better when I moved into an off-campus apartment with my friend. I actually feel like I'm living in Hawaii now. I really wish I did it sooner, but then I wouldn't have the roomie that I have now-which is why I'm recommending living in the dorm just for the summer session (6 weeks I think). Other than the on-campus housing, I can't find too many things wrong with UH. True, some of the buildings could be updated… but again, that's the whole maintenance issue. The school's pretty decent in all other aspects. |
