Statistical Analyzer:

As an out-of-state student, my advice for anyone coming from another state or island is to dorm for the shortest amount possible. Maybe dorm just for the summer before school starts so that you get to know some people, but DEFINITELY DEFINITELY seek off-campus housing. I dormed for one year… horrible, horrible experience. I did make lots of great friends there (maybe cuz we shared the agony of living in a sh*thole together), but I felt so much better when I moved into an off-campus apartment with my friend. I actually feel like I'm living in Hawaii now. I really wish I did it sooner, but then I wouldn't have the roomie that I have now-which is why I'm recommending living in the dorm just for the summer session (6 weeks I think).

Other than the on-campus housing, I can't find too many things wrong with UH. True, some of the buildings could be updated… but again, that's the whole maintenance issue. The school's pretty decent in all other aspects.
