Its very small, but its a strong community. Someone said that there is a drug problem, yeah, there are some drugs but there are going to be drugs wherever you go and at johnson, if you dont want to be around them then its probable that you wont see them. The music department professors are all knowledgeable and friendly and want you to succeed so they will help you as much as they can if you ask them. The only problem I have is with the funding, we have only a few resources compared to other schools but that is not the professors' fault.I rated the 'surrounding city' a C because it is extremely small and there isn't much to do but it's only 45 minutes or so away from Burlington where there is plenty. Montreal is too only a few hours away if you want to drive. The college has really improved since I started going there as far as student activities are involved, every weekend they try to have some sort of special activity and there are always different shows going on at the Dibden center. The only problem is that most of the students are from the area so they go home on the weekends so there isn't much attendance to these events.Lots of students may complain about Johnson, but its going to be like that wherever you go, there are no schools where everyone is completely satisfied with their school choice.Over all, I do recommend at least going to an open house at Johnson State and any other schools you are interested in to really get a good look at them before you decide. |
