BMCC is a school that is abundant in oppertunities, but no one ever tells you that if you really do work hard, have an overall GPA of 3.9, AND receive every honor imaginable, that in the end it will all amount to nothing.I was one of BMCC's brightest. I got awards, straight A's, even went as far as getting into the Vassar program. When it was all over and I came back expecting my diploma, what I got was a handful of classes I didnt need, because nobody cared to transfer my credits. I didnt get a pat on the back, and had to fight for recommendations to schools I didnt get into. All the promises that were made, fell through right before my eyes. Do you know where I am now? In Hunter college, where your average joe schmoe belongs. I went through hell to be the best, only to wind up with the rest. The people that I admired, wound up being nothing more than miserable adjuncts bringing bread and butter to work. I thought I had made some friends, that I played my cards right without fraudulent networking. I was wrong. The faculty smile at you, but forget you once you step out the door. The classes are bs, sometimes all you had to do was know how to spell the word, "didn't" and you'd be on your way to the top. BMCC uses you, they will lie to you just to get you to stay in a certain dept. and I can freely say that because outside of my departments door a list of colleges is listed to which students have been accepted. Smith, Vassar, Stanford, etc. They mention nothing about the little guys who drowned in the process. They also dont mention the tricks one has to perform in order to be one of the 'big guys' which include various favors if you know what I mean. The Vassar program was a waste of time and lie.You dont get money to go to school and you dont get into NYU unless you get into bed first. I started off an enthusiastic, happy go lucky writer, where I am now, I really cant say. |
