Fort Valley State University is a great university to attend for just about anyone. For students who are from small towns, the university will have a familiar appeal to it. For students from bigger cities, Fort Valley may actually be what you need to get away from the business of city life and focus on academics.

At Fort Valley, everyone pretty much knows everybody. This can be a good thing because isolation is something that many new students at huge universities suffer from.

As far as activities, there are a numerous amount of organizations and clubs that are eager to do things on and off campus. There is a Boys and Girls Club in the town as well. Because Fort Valley is a small town, sometimes students might feel bored. But Warner Robins is a 15 minute drive; Macon is a 30 minute drive; and Atlanta is about a 1 hour drive. HomeComing is probably the most exciting time of the year. The university and community really come together to make that week special.

The professor at Fort Valley are dedicated to teaching. This is great because at some universities, the professors have more dedication to research, and teaching allows them to get funded. But at Fort Valley, the professors actually want to pass their knowledge on to the next generation of college graduates.

Do not be fooled by the small size or because the university is not famous, this university prepares you for graduate school and the career world. Fort Valley has a rich heritage and continuing to grow. I would recommend any freshmen or undergraduates to live on campus. The dorm life is awesome. Each dorm is constantly having a talent show or some type of event that brings the dorm residents closer. There are also new apartment style dorms that are extremely nice. Fort Valley continues to grow. If you are looking for a truely unique college experience, look more into this school, and as an alumna I personally invite you to attend.
