However, being perfectly honest, the courses were not even close to the level of difficulty at other schools. And I've attended a lot. For example, I hated English Comp and even withdrew twice at a nearby community college. But when I went to J-State, I easily made an A both semesters. An even better example is American Lit. I withdrew from it too after only a couple of weeks at a CC. But at J-State, I got 2 B's and honestly only went to the mall and read Cliff Notes, i.e. I never cracked the monster lit book. Biology over at MC in Clinton scared the hell out of me after 1 bro got an F and a second studied every weekend in the dorm and barely got a C. I told them I'm not crazy, I'll take that at J-State. First semester, I got a 148 out of 160 on the mid-term and the nearest score was 97. That was in a class of about 85. What's up with that. I'm no Einstein and only listened and crammed the night before. The prof told me the week before finals that I had an A and it wasn't necessary to take the final unless I wanted to. That's the honest to God truth. I really enjoyed every instructor I had. They were caring and when time permitted, shared their advice on my career goals. But being honest, I left J-State with a 3.83 gpa and a sheepskin. And this day I feel guilty because one homey at MC barely graduated in the same degree and the second one didn't get past his sophomore year. They were both a lot smarter than me. |
