Extremely affordable. Lots of vocational programs. Beautiful location on Maine Coast, with views of Portland, Maine, Maine's largest city. Cons: Unmotivated student body. Lots of slackers. NO class discussion. Students won't even tell my math professor the answer, even if they know it. Kids in english composition can barely write sentences. Feels like High school all over again, except I have people over 30 in my classes now. Anyways, SMCC has articulation agreements with the whole Maine university system, and credits generally transfer to area schools. The problem is, transferring anywhere else is a pain. NO social life whatsoever. People drive here, go to class, and leave, maybe drinking a cup of coffee by themselves. Rarely do I see people together in the Quiet Lounge. I can't speak for those living on csmpus, but I highly doubt any social scene. The professors are good, but the student body as a whole is unmotivated, except the school has great health occupations programs, such as nursing, EKG tech, Paramedic. |
