there are too many people going to our school so most of the dorms are tripled, the buildings are aesthetically bland (theyre square brick buildings), some of the dorms had flooding last semester and mold

the teachers are actually very bright, they know what theyre talking about and are very passionate about their work, theyre friendly and very approachable. open-minded and value student's opinions

the classes arent so hard, depending on your major. science majors: theres a lot of note-taking and a few research papers here and there, humanities majors: lots of papers, though few are over 5 pages long and theres lots of discussion, lots of opinions bouncing around, arts majors: your days will be long and full of work, usually with 6 hour classes (of course with breaks in between) but it's worth it; if youre truly passionate about your art medium (paint, sculpture, music [instrumental and voice], dance, acting etc..) you will probably love this school as it really prepares you for a life of art. not really a competitive school unless you go in for art, its tough to get a spot theres lots of different clubs, clubs for artistic people, clubs for gamers, clubs for people who love cheese, root beer, anime, clubs for people interested in social reform, clubs for people of diffrent ethnic backgrounds and religions, and clubs for different majors. theres basically a club for everyone, and we're just a half hour away from NYC so if youre bored here, hop on the train to NYC. this school is very liberal, we even have an independent newspaper that has articles in it that would be banned in other schools. we have sports, but dont get too excited. Purchase is an ART school, so of course our sports wont be great. i dont even think our sports teams win anything. we do have a pool and an exercise center, but if youre thinking of getting by on a sports scholarship or something, forget it.

overall, this school is ok, in my opinion. however, there are students here who love this school to death and others who hate this school. if youre looking for a tight-knit community of students that come from all walks of life, full of people who are gay, straight, bi, transgender, black, white, hispanic, asian, upper class, middle class, lower class, freaks, nerds, artists, punks, preps, urban, hippie, then you will love this school. if youre looking for more of a conservative school with strict guidelines, you'd better look at another school.
