Statistical Analyzer:

UMD was my dream school—until I attended. The faculty approaches your potential as a burden. They make sure you know exactly how much debt you're in, but can't bother to give you an idea of which classes will suit your major and personal preferences. I transferred as a freshman in the spring semester with a 4.0 and was put in 400level classes. What. The Hell. Professors are narrow-minded and will fail you just because they don't like you or your views; I saw this happen on more than one occasion.

There are a lot of student groups, but it's difficult to get into them because they don't campaign or promote—leaving newbies feelings like outsiders.

Not to mention that half of the teachers don't speak English, and don't care if their students are failing from lack of proper communication.

I do not recommend this school for anyone who considers them-self an individual with exploratory ideas and projections. If you want the prestige, the riots, frat parties, being treated like an ant, and the infamy—by all means, you may enjoy it.
