Statistical Analyzer:

I curretnly have 2 completed semesters under my belt so my review may not be that valid. However, what I can say about Dowling is that it's a very small and personal college (you cannot get a college more personal than Dowling). There have been times I would go into a professor's office after class without even an appointment. Not only would we discuss academics, but would somehow get into conversations about Sizzler and IHOP :)

While Dowling is very personal, its overall atmosphere isn't that great. The dorms are very boring with nothing to do (which is why I moved out), the program for "potentially gifted students with learning disabilities" was below average with unprofessional faculty, and the clubs are ok but nothing great. While the campus may be aesthetic, it is really small, and the buildings are old (yet have an interesting "foreign/historical-like" architecture).

It seems like most of the students here major in either Aviation, Education, Sport Management, or some other kind of business. Please be aware that this is a LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE. I do not recommend this college for those interested in math and science. While a good quantity of these professors are above average, course availability is absurd. (1 meteorology class a semester w/ one professor teaching it, one class of Geo. ONLY offered in the Spring etc) At the same time you may find 10 of the same history courses being offered.

Overall, Dowling is an average school but nothing special. If you want a commuter school that's small and personal with a large student to faculty ratio, I recommend Dowling. If you are going to college to party, make friends, and major in some sort of math or science, I do not recommend this school.
