CCD should be a wonderful community college. It is located in the heart of Denver, along with Metro and UCD, with which it share facilities. However, it is plagued by an inept and corrupt administration (the president was recently forced to resign amid allegations of theft and mismanagement), poorly paid and under resourced faculty, and a computer system straight out of 1989. The online classes are difficult to navigate, the online registration is also difficult and often unavailable entirely. I honestly cannot stress the failures of this computer system (which reportedly cost the college millions) enough. It is awful. Counseling sessions have been frustrating as even the guidance counselors cannot navigate the computers or the poorly laid out catalog. Classes have been canceled without notice. Communication is VERY poor. In all, my experience with this school has been very poor, and I would not recommend it to anyone. The positive (what little there is) is that the students are very friendly, and the campus itself is amazing, with it's quiet, park-like atmosphere, and panoramic view of downtown Denver. In addition, it is directly on a light-rail stop, which makes it very commuter friendly. I hope that the incoming president (replacing the ousted/possibly corrupt former president) can fix some of these problems. |
