I attended PSU until I decided to transfer out after my fall semester of my sophomore year. The reason's for my choosing to leave the school are mostly related to academics, but some personal as well.

Being in the English Department I had some truly amazing professeurs who really pushed me to do the best and as a result I produced some amazing work. Outside of the English Department, academics tended to be a joke. Although you have to take required classes at any school or univerisity, the large number that you have to take a PSU, as well as the standard for such classes is what is lacking. Generally, the required classes I took were as challenging as classes I took early on in high school, and work was irrelevant when trying to apply it to the outside world. If you love your major, good. If not, good luck.

Financially, being an out of state student, you get screwed. New Hampshire has one of the highests out of state tuitions for state universities in the nation, and you'll soon realize that. I was not getting the education I deserved for paying more than $20,000 a year.

Socially, you either love the scene at PSU or hate it. Winter obviously dominates as a huge amount of students either ski and snowboard, so while credit should be given for the campus having so many activities to do on weekends, things can get really quiet during the winter on campus. Also, Plymouth has almost no social scene (It's a town with a population of 6,000) which means that you're looking at drinking as the only form of entertainment, since nothing stays open past 8pm in town except for the 3 or 4 bars.

I left the school because financially I thought I could be doing better, academically I could be more challenged, and I just needed a more stimulating environment because I was getting sick of ONLY hearing about people getting tanked or messed up over the weekend.
