They're ultimate goal seems to be to educated the masses and that's what they are doing. If you want "the college experience," you have to pay for that. If you want to go to college and have enough money to vacation in Mexico or Jamaica (or have wicked-fun in the Dominican Republic), MDC is for you. Besides, there's so much to do in Miami that if you really want to have fun, you can have it. However, if it's that "college experience" you're craving, it's as simple as approaching a few people in class to start a study group or moving into a condo or apartment complex on South Beach (where you're sure to make friends to party with). Besides social activities, if you just need a degree, go to MDC get your AA and transfer ALL (I REPEAT, ALL) your credits to a long list of state universities and even online universities. I'm sure there's lots of other universities that will accept your credits also. If you're serious, you can CLEP some classes, take some in the mini term, online, and in the two mini summer semesters. You'll have your AA or AS in no time. You just gotta keep your eye on the prize. Trust me, all the real education takes place on the job anyway, you just need the degree to get you in the door. If you call or visit a student advisor, they'll even override the amount of credits you can receive in one semester so it's really all up to you. MDC is accredited, recognized, flexible and cheap. Everything you need is available online so do it yourself. No one's going to walk you through life so you might as well get used to it now. Do a little research and go to college. You'll have great professors, horrible professors, and many inbetween, but you'll walk away with a degree. |
