My response will be in three parts—in regards to the faculty aspect of the college, inflated value of the education, and the residential life of the college.

I give high marks to the faculty as a whole and their genuine respect for the student body. The professors do present themselves in a professional manner which allows for the students to reciprocate the effort. The one-on-one advising was very beneficial (even though some professor could use some work with this), however, this is an area of great strength for the college. Kudos.

I am not advising anyone to look at the statistics of the school. The overrepresent the realistic outlook of leaving the college. Grand View College states that in the last ten years, 100% of the graduating body has received work. But what they do not tell you is that this is just saying ANY type of work. You could be working at a McDonald's, grease mopper, etc. This deflates the value of the education that one receives here (which is odd considering, as a whole, the faculty is very well-learned). Also, most who come to realize the deflation of the degree received at this institution then run to graduate school to be at a par level to the educated working body. I would recommend that anyone considering applying at this institution look more at how the upperclassmen see the school as opposed to underclassmen who have a jaded view of the college that they go to.

The third aspect is in regards to the residential life on campus. I am not a fan of the setup of the res life here. It is poorly executed and does not present students who live on campus fairly. The largest disappointment is how inactive the res life is at Grand View. It is stated as a lively place to live, when in fact, you are more likely to have a lively time at a local bar than the flacid events that are run here. The food is subpar, facilities are marginally managed, security is useless, RAs are hard to get a hold of in an emergency (or they are just not around when it is posted as 'on duty')… Use great care when spending your money on the on-campus aspect of the college.

Overall, I rate the institution as poor. 2/3rds of the college are too disappointing to even give it a neutral rating. I can say that I wish I had spent my money elsewhere.
