This place is thick with bureaucratic garbage. The faculty voted to remove one of the most used student parking areas on campus recently. Tuition has nearly doubled in less than ten years, and student housing is tolerable at best. The Computer Science and Business departments have changed their graduation requirements at least two or three times in as many years, and I find the Theatre department laughable. To the Computer Science department's credit, they actually do pay attention to the Rights of Catalog rule, something that neither the English nor Business departments did for me. Advisement is a complete joke, but you've got to have it if you want to register. There are no real uniform standards, so the difficulty of a particular course is completely dependant upon the professor. Right now, for instance, I've got to study more for my 100 level History course than my 300 level Mythiology course. The only reason the University is growing at the rate it is happens to be because it's one of two 4-year public universities in the upstate. The other being Clemson, it doesn't take an idiot to figure out how its astronomical growth started happening. |
