If you are trying to find a school that sees dollars signs instead of students, you are looking at the right place! They will do anything in their power to tweak things in order to move up in the US World News rankings, regardless of how it effects the students. When it comes to studying abroad, there are only a handful of semester options. And if you find a university that has an option that you are really interested in, if it involves you not paying centre the semester's tuition, they will try to blockade your efforts in any way possible. The housing staff is insane—they make it impossible for you to live off campus. As a 22 year old, you would think by now you would have the decision, but think again. And if you are lucky enough to fake a severe illness and get off campus, they force you to pay the 2 to 3 grand for a meal plan, even though the food is on par with prison slop—super unhealthy, deep fried, and recycled longer than it should. Student diversity is an absolute joke. Alot can be learned from the real world when you are surrounded by all white, upper-middle class, spoiled brats. And if you are a person of color, don't think you won't be tokenized and pulled into every picture for a Centre billboard boasting about our diversity. Ha. As far as safety…as a female, take self defense classes and always always always go with a friend that will not leave you behind. I know countless women who have been sexually harassed/assaulted, and IF reported, they say that they will take it seriously, but never do. They refuse to expell students, even on fair grounds, because they are too afraid of pissing off possible alumni that might give the school money. Even for students that are caught smoking pot, they only get suspended until the end of the semester. Too bad they don't catch the majority of the frat guys that are snorting coke and other various pills. Centre is like Pleasantville—they would like to give the illusion of a harmonious, perfect campus, but it is FAR from it. If you a rich, conservative, close-minded, and sexist, aren't interested in student diversity, and feel like you would thrive in a don't-ask-dont-tell environment, go ahead and write that check for 37 grand (oh, and don't even think that tuition won't increase 2 g's every year). If I could do it all again—or if it weren't too late to transfer—I would take my money elsewhere, where they are friendly and helpful and actually care about my well-being and future.
