As someone who has graduated, worked in the "real world", traveled extensively, lived in racially diverse locations, and gone onto graduate school, I firmly believe Concordia gave me an excellent education. My courses were rigorous, challenging, and small in student numbers. I never felt that I was merely doing busy work. In fact, most of my courses encouraged discussion and expression of ideas. Most of my professors were extremely knowledgeable, intelligent, and honestly cared about my growth as a student. Having gone to graduate school at an extremely large university, I know that this is not the case for other college students. At other schools, it is often the TA's that often teach courses of 400 students…not the most conducive learning environment. I think that Concordia prepared me very well for my career.

It is true, Concordia attracts a particular demographic (white Christians). However, consider the location (its on the border between Minnesota and North Dakota…not the most racially diverse areas of our country). Thus, for someone to complain about the lack of racial diversity is equivalent to someone complaining about the lack of Caucasians at the University of Kenya. It also attracts more politically moderate to conservative students. However, as a liberal and a minority, I never felt as though I was in a stifling environment. Reading some of the other comments, you would have thought this school was on par with Bob Jones University. It is not. Although many students might be more conservative, I always felt as though they were willing to hear me out and have an intelligent honest discussion…isn't that what college is supposed to be.

Overall I think Concordia is a wonderful school. Its not for everyone, but what school is. Go Cobbers!
