How can anyone write anything good about this school? I thought my one year there was never going to end! FIU really seems to cater to the minority students which makes up the majority of the student body. Not trying to make race an issue but if you're white you kind of feel left out and on the outside. I was in the business program and talk about a complete joke. I had one professor who could barely speak English and his exams were on crap we never even went over. The campus is in a rough area of Miami and can leave you feeling unsafe. Fellow classmates seem generally uninterested in learning anything and can be seen by the amount of text messaging in classes with professors not even caring. The extent of campus social life is hanging out watching a football team that's won a total of 1 game in the past two years! Besides only like 500 people go to the game with about 380 of them being fans and students from the visiting school. Parking is horrible along with most of the student services staff. I soon realized FIU was not my scene at all and transfered to UCF. Honestly, unless you're on a free ride and have a ton of friends already in the area stay away from FIU there's nothing there. If you are a FL resident or an out of stater who wishes to attend school in Florida I would suggest looking at UF, FSU, UCF,or FAU. I only wish i knew so i didn't waste a year of college.
