Do NOT attend SAU's Nursing Program! The NCLEX pass rate is the third worst in the state of Arkansas! Some teachers are helpful and are concerned that you really learn the material, but those are few and far between. For the most part, teachers are VERY condescending, hateful, and unconcerned with student success. The only thing this nursing school cares about are the numbers..what is the NCLEX pass rate? They teach from one book, but take test questions from other material and do not check to make sure the material being tested on was covered in class or in the book. When you have a question or do not understand something, you are talked down to and made to feel ignorant. You can actually get yelled at for quietly slipping out of class to go to the bathroom and made to feel like you are in kindergarden again. Staff have no problem insulting you personally to your face. When you bring up a problem with a teacher to their boss, you are then insulted further. SAU would rather spend $30,000 on installing white columns in front of one of the buildings than purchase clinical supplies for lab usage. The 2 foley catheters they have for demonstration are older than I am and are falling apart…lets not even get started on the dummies. After each test, you are not allowed to see your test, much less get it back to review what you got wrong so you can go back and study it over again. They even have problems keeping teachers in the nursing program. Please, please, please research other nursing programs before taking a risk on SAU's nursing program. Tyler Jr. college, Panola college, SAU Tech, and LA tech all have much better curriculums that actually TEACH!
