Dickinson was nothing like i expected it to be. I know everyone says that 'college is what you make of it' and i really really tried to like this school and make the best of it (since i am after all, paying $45,000 to come here) but there was no way to get around the fact that its like high school part II. The student body/campus is SOOO SMALL!! 1500 undergrads, max. it seriously was exactly like my high school. everyone knows everyones business and there was always so much petty stupid drama that you think people would get over by the time they're college.

most of the people here are nice, but they all seem kind of sheltered. all they want to do is sit around in their dorms and get piss drunk. they seem to have no idea of what life is like outside of campus. most people here are also extremley wealthy. parties are far and few between..most of the time people just sit around and drink in their rooms. sometimes there will be a real "rager" aka people huddled around a keg in a dirty frat house basement.

Carsile is a shit hole of a town, its TINY TINY TINY. i cannot emphasize that enough!! there is one main street with a few shops and bars but beyond that, nothing. just farmland and freeways. you are therefore isolated on campus with this tiny student body, so in many ways its worse then my high school because YOU CANT GET AWAY!! ive made some really good friends, but still..after freshmen year its like theres nothing else to see, experience, or do around here.

with that being said, dickinson has pretty good academics. ive learned a lot from my classes though my professors are okay. classes are super small and intimate, most are capped around 20 people. there are good study abroad programs. however, the university has shitty resources—the science labs are crap, they have ZERO funding for any other programs and the library is pretty lackluster too. also—YOU HAVE TO TAKE GYM CLASSES ALL 4 YEARS AT DICKINSON. its a requirement. there are 21 year old seniors playing badmitton to fulfill their gym requirements, which i think is a testemant to how much dickinson is like high school.
