I graduated in 1997 so things may have changed since then. I went to this school because my grandmother graduated from there before me and encouraged me. I didn't want to go to school in my own city because I wanted a change of pace. The teachers were fine except for one or two that didn't speak good English which caused me to drop out of one class and had to retake the next semester. The math curriculum was not the best for College Algebra. My first college algebra class the teacher moved so quickly we started out with 38 people. By the end of the semester we had 9 people left. 3 people passed the course and I was one of them. The general faculty was terrible. They were down right arrogant at times and after standing in long lines for 30 min each, on enrollment day if they would tell you, you are in the wrong line and would have to go stand in another line. Finally once I graduated, in May, I received a note from ECC to apply for a scholarship for my next college for continuing education but I had to apply by April. It was already May!!! Besides all of that the education I received was great and although I continued my education at another college in a different major, the degree I received from Essex helped me to get 3 out of the last 4 jobs I have received. Also gave me the education in business management/administration to succeed. That was over 11 years ago I graduated. I believe with technology and etc. at least the long lines could have dissipated by now. Through all this I still value the education I got from ECC and would not have gone to another school. I know that sounds crazy but it's true. |
