The only con I really have is that it is very expensive, and you are unlikely to get much financial help from the university. Also, there are no sports and school spirit is kind of blah. Yet, there are numerous emory activities and events that almost the whole school attends. So its not like the whole campus is disconnected. The experience at Emory is really unique. They really make an effort for you to fit in and help you adjust. The academics are very challenging and rewarding. I am a Pre-Med and majoring in the Neuroscience and Behavior Biology. This major isn't even offered at most schools. My advisor is one of the leading psychiatrists in the country, and many of the faculty are heads of their fields. Emory is one of the leading research universities in the country and contains some of the top researchers in the country. This is invaluable to undergraduates who are able to get tons of research experience working with experts in their field. While there are some rich snobby kids and "JAPS", don't be fooled. They are not the majority of the student body. You will meet many down-to-earth, humble, and friendly people. The diversity of the campus is really great (Whites are under 50%) and you will probably make friends with people from all around the country, if not all around the world. Some of my best friends are muslim, indian, persian, dominican, puerto rican, white northerners, korean.. etc etc. It really is a great experience. |
