Statistical Analyzer:

Emory is a very well funded school with great faculty and super modern facilities/technology. Some people complain about the General Education Requirements, which there are more of than at many other schools. I though that was the best aspect of Emory because I took classes which I would have never taken otherwise and which may not have prepared me for my future career but did develop my intellect (something that quite often does not happen to students at other schools with less GERs). The professors are mostly very accessible and give you plenty of opportunities to dwell deeper into their field if you are interested in it.

Now for the negative aspects, as a pre-med I ended up doing a lot of things independently because guidance, although "available", was not really there unless you scheduled and followed up on it. And the guidance that you did get was often inadequate, especially for Neuroscience/Behavioral Biology majors (there are too many of us/them and I think there were only a couple of advisers for our whole class). The student body is very diverse but segregated and the students are often your generic pre-med or business major from Long Island. Not to say that there aren't any cool and interesting people, but you will probably meet most of them the first month of freshman year and end up sticking with them until you graduate.

So if you are an independent and social individual and know what you want, Emory is amazing. If you want lots guidance through your 4 years in college and want to have social activities scheduled and friends made for you, Emory is not the place to go unless you join some religious, cultural, or ethnic "club", or a frat/sorority.
