Once at Carthage I discovered that for the most part, this was true. The campus, definitely very pretty, I still like the program I am in, and I found the students to be a lot more approachable than at my old university. I've managed to make a few friends on campus, despite living off of campus, and I've been able to join a couple of organizations on campus, so while being social can be a challenge on campus, it's all dependent on how much you put into it. There seems to be a mix of kids on campus, in terms of their backgrounds, you'll come into people that you'll hate because they've never grown out of high school, and you'll find people who really love school, and you'll find the medium, so there's a little something for everyone. The one thing I am worried about, as graduation looms, is being able to find a job coming from such a small school, but it's a sacrifice that I was willing to make, I came from a much larger more well known school, but I chose to go to a smaller school, it's very important, if you choose a small school like Carthage, to make contacts and make the most of the school. Overall, I would say if you're looking for a "bar scene", don't come, if you want a small town laid back school with a pretty campus, come here. However, be prepared for a crap ton of school. |
