Guilford does have a tendency to lie to get you in. Please understand that Guilford College is poor, the school desperately needs money and because of this they allow anyone to enter the school. My friend basically failed out his last semester, purposely, because he decided he wanted to take time off or really just leave college all together… they sent him a letter asking him to come back. Guilford's dorms are pathetic and lacking in every way. There is a currently a HUGE shortage on living space on campus because the school has decided to admit more freshmen than they can handle in order to gain more money for the school. Because of this there is a huge dissatisfaction with incoming freshmen class (my year, there were students living in the common area - I knew someone who slept in a kitchen for a whole semester, but they took out the stove.) They justified this by stating that by the time second semester comes around lots of kids will have dropped out or they will kicked out due to grades and other reasons. True, but way to truly care for the students you admit. While they fixed this problem for the 2011 class, many upperclassmen had to have triplets, which shouldn't be too bad except the dorm room was designed for two people only and it could barely hold two.

The food has been horrible but this year (2008) Guilford has changed food providers. The new food provider will apparently serve more organic food. I'm not sticking around to test them out, the thought of a better food provider does strike me but when food is the only good reason to stick around - just no.

The education is pretty good. Some professors will take chances with you and will want to hear your creative mind. There's a lot of liberalism but there will be people who can bring in some new insights. All the great things you do hear in class like accepting everyone, opening and expanding your mind, get wasted the minute you exit the class room. Most of the students are "hippies" who don't know what they are talking about. They get drunk, ditch your friends in the woods and let them over dose kind of drunk. A friend of mine left Guilford because all he could do was drink on the weekends and week days. Later on during the year drinking will start on Tuesdays and even Mondays as opposed to starting on Thirsty Thursday. OH yes, because Guilford is small many in the school will allow rumors to be the basis of their factual information. Gossiping is unavoidable, i've heard way to much about other people then I've cared to

The administration, if you pay attention, will make you want to scream. It's corrupt, someone posted a review in which she said she was assaulted.. go read it and believe it. And like another reviewer said, they will tell you that Guilford is the Harvard of the South, if Harvard is like Guilford stay away that or well, I'm about to make bad comments on the south.

There are some cool kids on the campus, most live off campus and they are brilliant for it. It's cheaper to live off campus and you get better rooms, used to be better food - probably will be the same.

Oh yeah, about the drinking, there's this even called Serendipity. People drink their ass off and go near Ape Shit if they get written up during this event. Outside of Serendipity you drink in your dorm room or go to the Apartments or Bryan Hall and have yourself a drinking binge!

So Cons:

A lot of crap.

Pros:

Faculty/staff - education

And maybe the food now that Guilford has changed providers.

Oh, by the way, when it rains the dorms smell horrible, absolutely horrendous.
