A Christian, private, university. All of the regulations are either normal regulations at any college for safety etc, or biblically virtuous. This includes a dry campus, regulated websites (excluding pornographic corruption), rules about drugs and sex, as well as visitation. These are all normal for many colleges, and should expected from any Christian institution. Also, every private school is full of those rich snooty students. That is the point were most of them find direction and straighten out.As a Christian one should not judge them and realize this is one of there own flaws, we each have many. Remember that the Lord loves them the same as all other believers. Gordon should be viewed as a school specifically for Christian students, learning how faith is connected to their major, which is only as Christ has called it to be. Going to Gordon one should be joyful about daily chapel requirements. It is a chance to worship the Lord, learn, and fellowship with peers. Going so often can draw one much closer to the Lord, and allow serious spiritual growth. Those who disagree with the way the student led event is held ought to get involved and pray for change, instead of complain. The Lord calls us each to accountability, which is important whether or not you are a college student, so why would Gordon, a school based on biblical instruction not take that into account? True, someone seeking the night life of parties, fighting, and reckless drinking should not go to Gordon. Most students are too busy learning and enriching there lives to waste their time and intelligence. As with any superior ivy league level school one should expect a serious amount of work, and expectation. And lastly, as far as Christian schools go Gordon is quite liberal. Most Christian schools do not allow debate about theories and teaching. Most have far more regulations including quite restrictive dress codes; and the fact that it is non denominational says enough. Many other schools teach you a specific following, that is only subject to that founders specific interpretation. If this sounds similar to yourself pray about it, and see what the Lord has in store. |
