CU is a great school. That being said, there are a few negatives, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.

The worst part about CU is the small but vocal portion of the student body that is so oblivious to the actual world but is obsessed with all things political. Basically the "im going to drive the kick ass SUV that my parents bought me to the No Blood for Oil rally, then, after I go debate politics at starbucks, I am going to campaign to stop sweat shop labor so that I feel better about myself" type of person. Yes, they are small in numbers, but they annoy people to the extent that a large group could. The other obnoxious group on campus is the Diversity Thugs. These students (and faculty to some extent) are generally bitter about the large caucasian representation on campus and are very vocal about their dissatisfaction. Yes, the campus is largely white, but there are so many people from so many different backgrounds, that it is indeed a very diverse school. People on this campus cannot, and will not get past skin color.

The positives are what can sell almost anyone on the school. We love our football team, even through hard times. One of the most positive aspects of student life is cheering for the Buffs during football season.

We know how to party, but we also know how to handle ourselves (for the most part). People at CU get wasted a lot, but there are very few problems associated with our substance use. There is very little violence between students, and people generally get along with each other very well.

Students generally come from a lot of money, but it is not flaunted very often. You do tend to see that a lot in the Greek community, though.

The party scene in Boulder is fun your first year here, but it gets old very fast. The compensation for this is that Boulder has a great bar scene. Going out to the local bars is a very popular activity. The bar scene is awesome because there are niche bars for whatever your scene is.

Campus life is cool too, if that's your thing. The ski/snowboard club is maybe the largest in the country, and they do a lot of fun things. The College Republicans seem to be very active but they are cool because they arent as obnoxious as their liberal counterparts. They mainly serve as an advocate for Republican and Libertarian values on campus. You dont ever see them protesting or anything like that. The Alumni association is also great to get involved with because they do a lot of cool events.

We are 25 minutes away from the nearest ski area. Enough said about that. It is very very very very very easy to skip class to go skiing.

Our weed is pretty good here, not gonna lie about that one. Another positive about CU…

Academically, CU is great. You really get to make your own decision about how much you want to get out of your education. The professors are very liberal, but most of them are good people who arent there to proselytize. It is not uncommon to see students latch on to certain professors, because they do make themselves very accessible.

So yeah, i could go on even longer listing the positives about CU, but I think I summed it up. Great people, great parties, good football team, skiing, academics, etc.

THE WORST THING ABOUT CU THOUGH IS THAT THEY DONT SELL BEER AT FOLSOM FIELD.
